CDP bit the bullet and integrated the Climate Change, Water Security, and Forests themes this year! CDP’s latest bulletin gave us an overview of what the long-discussed integrated questionnaire will entail. Some key highlights:
⊙ Only one submission will be needed to respond to all themes.
⊙ CDP will continue to use its Activity Classification System (ACS) methodology to determine the data points related to each theme a company must disclose. Basically: if you were requested to respond to Water and Forests in the past, that will likely continue to be the case.
⊙ Increased efficiency is part of the goal, streamlining responses where identical and similar questions were repeated across themes (assuming at minimum these would relate to governance, incentives, sign-off, public disclosure).
⊙ Companies will continue to receive separate scores per theme.
⊙ The questionnaires will contain new data points that address how these themes are interconnected.
⊙ CDP’s new platform, plus this new disclosure process, contributes to a delayed reporting season. As of today, the ORS will open in April and close in September.
